Book Launch

Ecologies of Resonance in Christian Musicking

Virtual Book Launch

A Celebratory Symposium

17th November 2020

7pm (Greenwich Mean Time) // 1pm (Central Standard Time)

Ecologies of Resonance in Christian Musicking explores the diverse interactions that individuals engage in with their own bodies, with the world around, with God, and with near and distant others in Christian musical activity. The book explores internet live-streaming, ascetic devotion, noisy congregations, evangelical devotion and "emerging church" communities through ideas of resonance, a concept rooted in the physical, vibrational and sonic realm that carries with it an expansive ability to simultaneously describe personal, social and spiritual realities. The book presents a new way of looking at experiences of devotional musicking whilst painting an ambitious portrait of the diverse ways in which Christians approach the activity of musical worship.

Join us for an introduction to the book by the author, followed by responses and discussion from an international panel of experts on Christian music and theology. This launch event will take place virtually via zoom, joining panellists in the UK, Canada and the USA. All attendees will have the opportunity after the event to obtain a 30% discount code for purchase of the book from OUP.
